Cardmarket Trend, Average and Low: which price should you use?

One box, three different answers
Trend and Average are close in this snapshot. Low is much lower, but that gap alone does not establish a bargain: the guide does not give us the listing details needed to explain it.
The useful question is what you want to find out. Following a price over time, choosing a listing and estimating what you might receive from a sale each call for a different check.
What Trend, Average and Low tell you
Trend is Cardmarket’s supplied trend-price field. It is the standard reference series used in COLLÆCT’s catalogue and market rankings, and a useful starting point for following the same product over time. We do not reconstruct its formula or treat it as a forecast.
Average is the supplied average-price field, described in the price-guide documentation as an average selling price. It is separate from the explicitly named 1-day, 7-day and 30-day sale averages available for some singles. Do not assign it an unstated time window or substitute a similarly named field from another API.
Low is the supplied lowest-market-price field. Use it as a prompt to inspect actual offers. It does not tell you that a matching copy is available in your preferred language and condition, or what the whole order will cost after delivery.
The Trend history below follows one of those series over time. It uses the recorded prices from the same Booster Box, with the observation date shown alongside each value.

Match the number to the task
Multiplying a Trend price by your quantity gives a reference valuation for a collection. The amount you could receive depends on the actual items and a buyer’s offer. Keeping those two ideas separate makes the total much more useful.
Three checks before you compare
- Match the product. For singles, check the set, card number and finish. For sealed products, check the edition and pack configuration. A standard Elite Trainer Box and a Pokémon Center ETB are different products.
- Keep the series consistent. Switching from Low to Trend can change a collection total even if the underlying market has not moved. Standard and foil series can describe different markets; a missing value is not a zero price.
- Include the costs that matter to you. As a purely illustrative calculation, a €100 sale with €5 in fees and €4 in seller-paid shipping leaves €91 before other costs or taxes. These example amounts are not Cardmarket’s fee schedule.

Give every price a date
COLLÆCT records prices from the official guide Cardmarket serves when we collect it. We check daily and retry when the guide is stale, but Cardmarket sometimes keeps serving an older guide for a full day. A recorded date therefore does not guarantee a newly updated source price, and an unchanged value alone cannot tell us whether the guide was refreshed.
Read percentage changes alongside actual amounts. A reference price moving from €0.02 to €0.12 has risen 500%, but only €0.10. That illustrative example says nothing about trading activity or a collector’s profit. The calculation is ending price divided by starting price, minus one, multiplied by 100.
